@fluff you probably have very little idea of what a GULAG is. GULAG isn't a prison. GULAG was a network of force labour camps, located usually in the middle of nowhere in tundra or Siberia, where people were forced to perform hard manual labour with little to no means to survival.
If you are put into a gulag camp, you would live in a barrack with dozens or hundreds of inmates just like you. You wouldn't have anything other than the clothes you wear. You would have very little food, no medications for whatever you might be suffering from, no warm clothes for winter, nothing. And when (not if, when) you die from either cold or starvation, you body would be put into a mass grave without even your name mentioned there.
Even as fucked up as american prisons are, gulags are a lot worse. Try reading Solzhenitsyn for a change. That guy survived this shit.
